چکیده

This article documents a meta-analysis of 113 data sets from published factorial experiments. The study quantifies regularities observed among factor effects and multifactor interactions. Such regularities are known to be critical to efficient planning and analysis of experiments and to robust design of engineering systems. Three previously observed properties are analyzed: effect sparsity, hierarchy, and heredity. A new regularity is introduced and shown to be statistically significant. It is shown that a preponderance of active two-factor interaction effects are synergistic, meaning that when main effects are used to increase the system response, the interaction provides an additional increase and that when main effects are used to decrease the response, the interactions generally counteract the main effects. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Calculating Sum - of - Squares A ( SSA )

In previous chapters we analyzed data from so-called one-way experimental designs, in which subjects were randomly assigned to groups that di↵ered on a single treatment or grouping variable. In this chapter we will analyze data from factorial experiments. Factorial experiments contain two or more experimental variables. In a completely crossed factorial experiment, each level of every variable ...

Approximate Geometric Regularities

Current reverse engineering systems are able to generate simple valid boundary representation (B-rep) models from 3D range data. Such models suffer from various inaccuracies caused by noise in the input data and algorithms. Reverse engineered geometric models may be beautified by finding approximate geometric regularities in such a model, and imposing a suitable subset of them on the model by u...

Choosing consistent constraints for beautification of reverse engineered geometric models

Boundary representation models reconstructed from 3D range data suffer from various inaccuracies caused by noise in the data and the model building software. Such models can be improved in a beautification step, which finds geometric regularities approximately present in the model and imposes a consistent subset of them on the model. Methods to select regularities consistently such that they ar...
